Hello, my name is Josh Curtis. I'm a member of Generation X who enjoys what has aptly been called The Greatest Generation. This generation grew up in the thirties and forties and had to make do during the Depression and World War II. I dress thirties and forties and drive my 1937 and 1940 Buicks, or my 1946 Plymouth to get around. So people call me the forties guy. My telephone is from 1918 - hey what is a touchtone phone anyway?!
WHY? You may ask? I do not know; is the reply. I have always been intrigued by these eras and the people who lived them. I've dedicated my life to preserve the memories and memorabilia of the World War II veteran, the thirties housewife, Hollywood actors and actresses, photographers, models, and factory workers.
Everyone I've found has an intriguing story. They are all so special to me. There is no higher honor than having a group of WWII veterans accepting me as one of their group.
Plans are in order to create a museum for these artifacts and oral stories that I record. Maybe one of you visitors can help.
The thirties and forties were indeed some incredible times but every decade has it's down's. Most blacks were fighting for our freedom in WWII and they only experienced limited freedoms in the USA. Thank goodness some things have changed! As a writer I say that many books will follow chronicling these times.
I hope you enjoy this site. It is a tribute to my heroes and heroines and to the time that I love.
